Every "German" item of food was purchased at a U.S. Grocery store. They are shown to the camera, and consumed by Americans. The concept of drift is illustrated, as an origin point of cultural reference becomes "the other" over time. The point is hopefully amplified by the commodification and consumption of an idea like "home cooking", showing the constructed nature of national and cultural identity.
